There are several Internet radio shows I like to listen to. I have these setup as Favorites in IE. I then copy the particular "Favorite" from the Favorites folder to the desktop, and I just click on the icon on my desktop, and voila, I'm listening to my show.

I even set up a scheduled task for one of them, so I could start it right when the show I was interested in started. That works fine, too, until now. I wanted to set up another such scheduled task, however, when this one tries to run, it fails. The error message in the scheduled tasks log is: "0x80070005 Access denied." What could cause this?

Just for the heck of it, I started setting up scheduled tasks by just randomly selecting any old favorite. I did that for about 5 of them. Everyone of them ran, that is, when the scheduled task started, it brought up the webpage of the favorite just as if I had clicked on it. What could be the problem with this particular one?

I'm sure the problem is not with the website because if I click on the favorite, the radio show starts. I think the "access denied" has to do with the task scheduler not having access to this particular favorite.

I have only a one-character password for accessing my account, and the only reason I have a password at all is so I can run scheduled tasks. So, I'm pretty sure the problem is not that I entered the wrong password for the task that is not working. But, here's something weird. I created another scheduled task and intentionally used the wrong password. It let me create the task, but I got an error message that said that the account information was wrong, and that the specific error was the SAME as the one I mentioned above, "0x80070005 Access denied." Thing is, I did not get that message when I created that task that is not working. I only get it, rather "see it" in the log file, after the task fails to run. ??????????????????????

    access denied for scheduled tasks

I called microsoft about that same code. I had scheduled 5 tasks about 6weeks ago, worked fine until Spysweeper said it missed a scheduled sweep, the others missed also.Called MS,(HP problem)called HP (MS problem),called MS back, asked for supervisor, explained data base cannot find error message,Fixed Problem(no charge). Easy fix is to (add or change password.) I never used a password when I set up 3 months ago.
