Good thing the weather people don't get paid on commission for accuracy…

Last nights forecast: "Small/light snow flurries in the morning. Sorry kids, there won’t be enough to close the schools. But, it will be pretty to watch."

Translation "“ SLEET Storm that started around 3am and is still coming down.

    And here in New York

Temp around 20 degrees ( not bad for this time of year )
    Beautiful cloudless blue sky.
No snow on the ground. BUT ! If all the rain we have had was actually snow, things would be quite different.

That's why they're called weather men, they don't know if weather it will rain, weather it will snow, weather it will be sunny. etc.

You've no doubt at times heard weathermen announce things like, "There's an 80% chance of rain today." Do you know how they arrive at figures like that? Here's how: Ten weathermen get together and if 8 of them think there will be rain, they announce there's an 80% chance of rain.

Have you ever noticed how if there is a 20% chance of rain, and it rains,
it's just as wet as a 100% chance of rain?

Definition of 100% Chance of Rain

Many, many years ago a bright spark television weather reporter in Los Angeles stated there was a 50% chance of rain on Saturday with a 50% chance of rain on Sunday as well. Then he said, "I guess there is a 100% chance of rain this weekend. "

That should send someone off to scour the urban legends websites.

With the many years I had of working and repairing Weather Bureau Equipment I've found that the only GUARANTEE was:

    Today: DAYLIGHT:cool:

    Tonight: DARK:cool:

    :D Finally: MAYBE:D
