    Hello everyone,
I upgraded to Windows Vista about 1 month ago. When I had Windows XP I ran Regseeker 1.52 as part of my weekly cleanup routine. It found invalid entries which I removed and my computer was running very smoothly.:) After I upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate, I ran Regseeker 1.52 and I cleaned up all the entries it found. However when I did a scan again in the registry all the previous problems that were supposedley fixed were back. So my question is why doesn't regseeker clean all the invalid entries that it finds. It shows that it cleaned all the old registry entries but they just don't seem to get fixed. Since this is the case is their some setting in Windows Vista thats preventing Regseeker from cleaning the invalid entries that it finds? Is regseeker totally incompatible with Vista and should I find another registry cleaner that can work with Vista? Please let me know if Regseeker will work with Vista and if it does then how do I make regseeker fix all the invalid entries it finds and not have the entries reappear when I do a scan again? This is just a minor issue and I am just curious as to why regseeker can't fix the registry entries. Thanks again for any comments and/or suggesstions. :D

    Hi Evan,

I always used Reg Mechanic on XP, and it also works on Vista, but probably not as effectively. I now use Vista Manager from Yamicsoft not free but I think it's well worth the money. It replaces several of the tools I used to use in XP, to name just a few; Everest, TweakUI, Erunt, Reg Mechanic, StartupCPL etc.. It also has a junk file cleaner, duplicate file finder, a smart un-installer, a services.msc panel, a privacy control, and many other tools. About a week after I installed Vista and had loaded a few things I ran Reg Mechanic and it found 121 errors, but before I ran the clean up I checked by running the registry cleaner in Vista Manager - that found 267!
Try it out, I'll bet you keep it!

EasyCleaner 2.1 beta 2 is Vista compatible. I've used EasyCleaner for years and highly recommend it.

v2.1 has an issue with Office 2007, which will be fixed in the next blacklist (#10) In the meantime you can add OPA12.bak to the skip box in Unnecessary Files cleaner.

Thanks for the links you guys. Do you know though if Regseeker could work on Windows Vista? Because I have used it for years on Windows XP without any problems and I really want to know if it will work with Windows Vista. ;) Thanks again for any comments. :)

I also used RegSeeker for years on W2K and XP, but when I ran it on Vista Beta 2 it found something like a few thousand invalid entries. That was on a fairly new install. Alarm bells rang for me, and I didn't let it clean. Apparently it is Vista compliant, but I haven't tried it on the final version. CCleaner has a registry cleaner component, but very mild compared to EasyCleaner or RegSeeker. I just ran CCleaner a few minutes ago, the first time on Vista Business. Everything, including Office 2007 seems to be fine. Like I said though, the registry cleaner in CCleaner is a little mild, but I like the other cleaning bits.
