    Greetings,

I am the IT guy for an organization with a user who uses Netscape 7.2 for an email client. He has used Netscape for years and has an extensive folder system set up, thus his reluctance to change to another client.

Yesterday, he renamed one of his folders in Netscape 7.2. After this, all the subfolders disappeared. They are not showing up as subfolders in any of his other folders.

When I check his profiles folder location using Windows Explorer, I can see the old files and folders but I cannot see them in Netscape.

As an IT guy, it is my practice to make sure that I can view all files and folders, including hidden system files, and I can view all extensions.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Ryan

I rename my e-mail account folders all the time, since the way the turn up is impossible to tell which account is which, should I go to the hard drive.
For instance my ISP is Cox. All accoujnts are named pop.central.cox.net (-1, etc.). Between my wife and I, we have five current accounts, so I rename the folder, on the hard drive, and then change the Local Directory path to the renamed account. This is an easy task, but if one changes names without being aware of this, or the change is not done the way I described it, "disappearance" is the only thought. Nothing disappears, unless deleted.

    Welcome to the Forum, tbone1974!

    Ryan,

If the subfolder is renamed, using Windows Explorer, then when Mail is opened all messages will disappear.

Have your user open Netscape Mail, and rename the subfolder back to its original name.
    Close Netscape and then reopen
The subfolders and messages should be viewable again.

If for any reason the user can't recall the original folder name, he can create a new subfolder, and move all of its subfolders to this location, using Windows Explorer. I just tried this, and it works.

I was talking about renaming the entire account. Yes, there is no reason to rename a subfolder within an account. It causes unneeded complications.
