I just got a new HP a1700n desktop with Win Vist Home Premiun using Win Mail and although I can send and receieve mail, it would appear that I can neither forward mail individually or in agroup. As I've only had a computer ( yes another newbie) for 6 months and just upgraded from a 15 year old emechine running win me to this HP with win vista, it is at times a bit overwhelming. Thanks to all of you who take the time to respond to those of us who are at the beginning of the learning process, your efforts are appreciated.

What happens when you try and forward a message?

Can you reply to a message?

Good morning, thanks for your interest. I can send and recieve individual email, ican recieve forwarded email, but I can't forward an email either individually or in a group. There is nothing stuck in my outbox and both my pop and smtp are set for surewest .net. The message appears to be sent, but when I call to see if anyone rec'd it, I'm told no.last week, I sent 2 emails to the same email address( one create mail one forwarded) only the create mail made it thru.I'm using a HP Pavilion a1700n desktop/windows Vista/ Home premium/Windows Mail. Microsoft/Hp says they can't help.
    Thanks for your help

It can sometimes happen if your ant-virus is set to scan outgoing mail - not a particualrly useful feature. I am using Windows Mail without any problems, and do a lot of forwarding. However, I know it sounds awkward, but forward your mail as an attachment to a blank mail.

    scan to empty mail

First I'm not exactly sure what a empty mail is. Yesterday I tried to forward am email (with attachment) by leaving the to: area blank (another suggestion) and only using the BCC no luck. Than I tried filling in the to: area as well as one in the BCC. The to:area made it but the BCC failed. Forward with attachnent was used in both of these attempts

I am leading you into somthing best avoided. This is curing the symptom, not the disease. I have not heard of this problem, other than you antivirus control (or Windows defender - have a look at the /tools/options there) is blocking you.
However. Copy the contents of the email you wish to forward.(Edit/copy or Control C) Create New mail, with a subject (Forwrd??) and the address to which you wish to send it. Now Edit/Paste and send your mail.
    P.S. Later
We are mostly all still exploring Vista,s functions. I have, since investigating you problem, discovered an easier way - there for the looking! Just click the mail of choice, go to "message" on the tool bar, and select forward as attachment. Up pops a new email, with the whole attachment in place. All you have to do is address it and forward the blank email.

    re:edit

It worked,(thank you)the only problem was I was unable to view the attachements within the email as intended, any suggestions? Even the message in HTML didn't work. I have to click on each attachement(emoticans) individually than clear it call up the next and try to figure out where it belongs in the email. There has to be some way for those to show in the incoming (downloaded) email as intended. Thanks muchly for your help.

Are you referring to my last suggestion? I have experimented with this, and I find if I double click the attachments (any number of them) they open normally for reading. If this is not working for you, there seems to be something wrong with your entire Windows Mail setup.

I think perhaps you should have another try at a simple forwarding of email again. It has to work. Just for the exercise, try disabling Windows Defender and any antivirus prog you have running.

    your last suggestion

Sorry it took so long in getting back to you, this new system went into the geeg shop for twodays and for $60.00 dollars they told me what I allready knew, that it should work.( that and they put Gmail on it)
Arie got involved in my thread about not using Bcc right(geeh suggestion) and said the problem may be that my isp limits how many emails and emails with attachements I can send.( the only thing that hasn't been suggested over the past month) he said "we'll contact your isp" so I'm waiting his reply. Thanks for your suggestions.
