    Hi,

This update (MS07-005) - addresses a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows Interactive Training.

I looked in Add/remove for this item and do not find it installed. Can anyone tell me if this is installed by default on all XP Home OS or is it something you have to add yourself. Also would love to know what it is for.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Ann,

To expand on Pete's explanation, what MS labels "Critical" updates only appear in Add/Remove. Not sure why non criticals don't get an uninistall option, plenty of non critical updates have caused problems

Of course, System Restore would roll back all updates.

    Regards - Charles

I apologize for not making myself clear. What I was looking for in Add/Remove was the Step-by-step Interactive Training thing to see if I had that on my computer. I don't know what it is but wondered if this was installed on my computer. How can I find out?

I got the D/L notification for this, but I also got a D/L notification for the Slovanian currency update for Word. I can't just accept what I get notification for because there have been several erroneous notifications.

    Is it any clearer?

    Hi Ann,

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Interactive training come with MS Office.

    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS07-005.mspx

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923723/en-us

If you don't use or don't have it, one option is to choose Custom MS update option > uncheck it and > don't show again.

Just to check the obvious :) you do have the "show ms updates" option checked on Add/Remove?

    Regards - Charles

    Hi Charles,

The Step by Step Interactive Training does not appear in Add/Remove.

I did a search for Lrun32.exe, Mrun32.exe, and Orun32.exe and did not find any of these files installed.

I checked the software titles for Office 2003 and did not find it.

I will ignore Ms update KB923723 and hope for the best.

BTW, I do have the show update checked in Add/Remove.

Re: Your suggestion on how to not get that update on my taskbar anymore, I am hesitant to do so, because the one time I tried that with Genuine Advantage Notification, instead of not reminding me anymore, it went ahead and installed it. Actually I am showing a new KB945474 update. You can't win with M$.

Thanks so much for the links and for your help.

I searched the Registry with RegEdit and found the following:

    HKEY_Current_User\ Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5603

    Default REG_SZ (value not set)
    000 REG_SZ Interactive training
    001 REG_SZ Orun32.exe
    002 REG_SZ Mrun32.exe
    003 REG_SZ Lrun32.exe

Does this mean I DO have it installed or is this a reflection of the search I did for these three .exe files?

    Your reply is greatly appreciated.

I am certain that the entries you see are a record of the searches you made using Search Assistant.

I find only one entry in my registry under that string ....

    000 REG_SZ *.cr2 - .cr2 files are raw files from my camera

I would conclude that you do not have Interactive Training.

    Hi PeteC,

    Great! No Interactive Training. LOL!

I did learn something new, however, as I did not know that the items you searched for would show up in the registry.

Thanks so much for your help.

I purchased Office XP Pro with my Dell PC, and Office XP step by step interactive training came pre installed. However it was not included with the Office Pro CDs. So I lost it when I recently had to replace my hard drive and reinstall everything. Dell don't make it available for download.

Step by step interactive books + CD are available for purchase for some versions of office, and also Windows, but Office XP is no lnger available as far as I have searched.

I doubt if it would be legal, but in any case would not be useful. The program needs to be installed properly, just getting the files is insufficient.
