unable to install anti virus software

heres a mystery for you. following a crash last week i had to boot and nuke my hard drive and re install xp home. i use btyahoo which includes a subscription to norton. the instalations files download ok and install the product. but after the re boot nothing has been installed. i have tried re installing several anti virus software and every programe no matter what it is, ig norton, avg etc all come up with the same error message saying file corrupt please download fresh instalation and try again. could something be stopping me from downloading this software
