I did a search for this topic but couldn't really find aything helpful so if it has been discussed maybe someone can point me to the thread.

What I'd like to do is make an image backup of my Windows XP.
I recently had a disk crash and it took 3 days to get everything working again.

The XP recovery disk I made when I first purchased the system, of course, only contained what was on the system when it was purchased.
So if this should ever happen again I don't want to go through the hassle of having to reload every program, driver, etc. that's wasn't on the system originally.

I haven't loaded Nero yet ... but looking through the documentation I didn't find anything helpful on making an image backup.

    thanks

You need a program like Acronis True Image to "clone" make an image of the drive.

    Steve,

I'm not looking to clone the drive.
I want to make a "current" recovery disk that will include all of the Windows updates, like SP2, that have been installed since the system was purchased.

Maybe you should be looking at cloning the drive:eek:

You could make an exact copy of it as of right now...If the drive dies, you pop out the broken one and pop in the cloned one in under two minutes.

    Steve,

I bought a copy of Acronis True Image.
Now I just need to get another disk drive to clone it to.

I use the freeware Drive Image XML and it works just fine. You do have to download BART PE to make a boot disk in case of recovery...
