Tabs are just a way to simultaneously load multiple web sites without having to open another IE window.

To open a link in a new tab, either right click the link, left click "Open in new tab" or, if you have a wheel mouse, click the link with the wheel.

When you're finished with that site you can close the tab (each tab will have a small x to close) without having to close Internet Explorer.

The wheel click does not work on my Logitech but it likely depends on the function chosen for the wheel.

    switching between tabs

Thought I would post here to avoid starting a new thread.

How can I switch between tabs (besides the obvious clicking the tab with your mouse) Is there a shortcut ie. Ctrl + ????

Ctrl/Tab takes it to the next tab to the right of the one you're on.

Ctrl/Shift/Tab takes you back to the tab to the left of the one you're on.

I've got a Logitec mouse too. The wheel needs to be set to "generic button" in order for it to work for opening new tabs.

    Zander,
I have tried every option in Mouse Properties > Buttons but can't find a "generic button" setting. There is the option to assign a "keyboard shortcut command" and Ctrl+Tab shifts to the next Tab. (My setting was "Universal Scroll" before but I rarely used the function.)

By accident, I found out that holding down the wheel and rolling at the same time changes the zoom level. If you hold down the wheel to change the zoom level back, you will do it on the next Tab ... ... so, if you use this setting ... ... you better have a steady index (first finger).

What version of Logitec's software are you using? Mine's called SetPoint and it's version 2.30.399. You can have a look at the attached screenshot to see what I'm talking about. If you don't have the option, maybe update your drivers?

I use older software, iTouch 2.20.0.0 for the keyboard and MouseWare 9.79.0.0 for the mouse. I will not use the function anyway and was only posting my experience to tell that it is not certain that it will work.

    Thanks,
    Christer

    Tabs gone

What to do when you lose tabs? Mine are gone, and the Favorites bar is either docked or gone, no floating/drop-down. I have checked the Internet Options, the Tabs are turned on there. I have restarted IE, rebooted machine, nothing has turned them back on.

    EDIT

The next reboot after this post they reappeared! Only thing I can think of I done was a Registry change on something unrelated to IE7. Guess that may have triggered the change and made my changes in Internet options stick?
