STOP Message 0xD1 when installing Win XP on formated hd

Hi!

I got a HP pavilion dv8000 Laptop. I recently had a lot of problems with my Windows version and one morning it wouldn't start (missing system files). When I put in my Windows XP sp2 cd and tries to repair/reinstall windows a bluescreen with the following STOP messages pops up even before I reach the first installation menu:

Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000A351, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x807837D5)

I figured that this could have been a software problem of some sort and when I couldn't figure out how to solve it I tried to format the hard drive. However, that didn't change a thing and the bluescreen keeps poping up.

Is there someone out there that got a hint of what this might be? My only thoughts is that it might have to do with eighter the Bios or a broken mem or something. I guess it cant be a driver problem if I formated the hd, right? I have no idea how to solve this.

xp install

sounds like a bad cd ?
will it check for compatability.
are you able to F-10 or F-2

 

I've already tried two different cds and the same thing happends on both

How do I know if it checks for compatability?
