    Greetings,

My XP Pro system crashes at the most inconvenient times. I've run "memtest" to eliminate ram as the potential problem.

It's a ASUS P4S8X motherboard with 1GB of ram and a couple of hard drives. I've got a Belkin Wireless G network card; and Nvidia GeForce Ti 4200 graphics card.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (1000007f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
    use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

    Faulty memory

Your debug report shows that there have two memory error and this is the symptom of faulty ram. Reseat the memory module to another memory slot. If it still crashes, replace the ram.

    Good news!

I had two 512MB memory modules. I removed Bank 0, and moved Bank 1 to Bank 0. Last night I left the system running with a Nero DVD burn (this always ended with a BSOD). No crash this time!

Thanks for the suggestion cpc2004! So far, so good!

    still crashes...

Crashes are only happening once a day. This is an improvement from every hour or two...
I will exchange the removed memory module for the one that's installed. (I had two 512MB simms; removed "bank 0 "; moved "bank 1" to "bank 0.)

I've ordered a new memory module, just in case both of them have gone south...
