System recovery CD on different system

    I have a Sony Vaio laptop that came with W2K. I was wondering if I could use the system recovery CD to load W2K onto my new desktop that came w/o an OS? What problems could I run into? Solutions?

    The recovery CD that came with my IBM will only work on that model. When you use it, it looks into the bios for some information then once found it will start the recovery.
