I have a whole buch of computers in a lab at my school that refuse to update this patch kb929437. Does anyone know what I might do to fix this?

It is related to the Microsoft Learning Essentials pack which is installed on the problematic computers.

    Thanks

was it there as a high-priority or optional download ? do you need it. on all programs go to microsoft update and get high-priority. would be my "guess ". or microsoft office online. which gives you better choices.

Hello Greg B and welcome to the Board,

Are you getting an error message or is it "hanging" seemingly doing nothing?

You receive an "Error 80070643" error message when you try to update Office 2003 by using Software Update Services

I have tried manually and that doesn't work. I get an a message that simply says the update could not be applied. I have tried shutting down and letting the machines update as they shut down but they just hang. I tried updating the dot.net framework and reinstalling Office 2003 but still no luck.

    It's got me stumped.

in IE i typed in--(kb929437 update problem) and it took me to a page of fixes. i tried to use the address in the bar before posting it here. it would not work. i emailed it to myself to test it. you may be able to tell if it applies or not. i tried the first 1 on the list.

Im not quite sure what you mean but will have to wait now till Monday. I have been to the microsoft page, that's why I reinstalled Office with no luck. I reckon I will just disable this update or uninstall the learning essentials pack as we don't use it.

    Hi Dytrog,

Forgive me, but you write atrociously and its always a chore to figure out what you mean :)

Why don't you start a thread on this in the IE section, don't want to mix yet another problem into this thread.

    Regards - Charles

    Hi Dytrog,

I apologize, I shouldn't have written my opinion about your writing in public.

You have a lot to contribute, just hard to follow sometimes.

    Best regards - Charles
