Is anyone aware of a startup disk for Windows ME that has USB support, for installing the program on an external hard drive?

Have you look at all the startup floppies at www.bootdisk.com ?

The files that work for me is Usbaspi.sys and DI1000dd.sys, do not know where to DL them. They need to be loaded in config.sys with device=. Not sure if a ME diskette will use the config.sys file.

If you plan is to install ME on the USB hdd, good luck, you will need it.

I have been trying to get 98 to install on USB hdd with no luck, did have some luck on copying 98 and then edit the registry to delete all hardware items (not what I want). The boot up time is slow. Some what faster if comp will boot from a USB hdd.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I couldn't even get XP to install on this external backup, so I'll just work around it.

I would think it would have more to do with the age of the computer than anything else and if the bios was enabled for external usbs or to boot off of external usbs.
The ability to power up the usbs on bootup as opposed to having windows do it did not come about till someone in the pentium 4 era.
