    Hi,

Was just getting offline a few days ago on my older computer. winxp and NS7.0, when a window popped up and said NS 8.1.2 was ready to download...closed that window out and got offline...a couple of hours later got back online to get emails and all was gone. The window came back up when I clicked the NS icon and wanted me to set up a Webmail
account...not wanting to lose anything, I quit messing around.

I googled "netscape email forums" and found you guys...read the posts and found my .slt files.. went and bought rw discs....and now need to know precisely how to copy those files to the discs.

Should I use a separate disc for each folder? I have 6 or 7 "subfolders" under the Inbox.
I think I read somewhere on one of the threads, someone had screen shots for people who needed "visual aid "

Sorry this is so long and I want to thank you all in advance.

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

    Welcome to the BBS!

Ramona, the forum moderator, has several excellent maintenance posts scattered around the board. Take a look at this one.

    Hi Jim,

    Thanks for the welcome.

Still not sure how to proceed..can I just copy the emails to disk without adding a new folder to the inbox tree?:

I'm afraid to go ahead and set up a new email account like the window says...
afraid it'll mess up my .slt files.

    thanks again
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

I haven't used Netscape for email since I quit using Netscape Communicator 4.79 about four years ago. I've been using Thunderbird for email and Firefox as my browser ever since, so I really can't help you there. Either Ramona, or someone else currently using Netscape, will have to weigh in. Sorry!

I still have Netscape7.2, as well as 8.1.2, and a lot more. I have no idea what happened because 8.1.2 and 7.2 are completely separate.
And, you won't mess up your .slt folder by creating a new account. One thing will happen for sure. The newly created account will not have any of the old mail. Only the mail still on the server.
But that does not mean that your old mail is gone.If you look on your Hard Drive in the profile location you will see in the mail folder your original account folder, e.g: pop.isp.net, as well as the newly created account, which will probably be pop.isp.net-1. You can transfer manually you mail from one account to the other. The links I gave you are from Ramona's website, as well.
