You guys did great at helping me before with issues, but now the issue has switched to my Windows 2000.

Just last night it did a restart without my permission (probably windows updates) and now I'm getting a ton of DLL's are missing errors.

So far the errors have come up when I try to run a VBS script (Stealthbot), when I try to access control panel I get Object Missing pop up errors relating to DLL's (although the panel still loads), and when I open up Internet Explorer I get page scripting errors and when I attempt to view them, I get more Missing DLL errors and iexplore.exe crashes out.

Any ideas what is causing this?

    Thanks.
    ~Eric.

    .dll

one way to find -- open my comp. right click C: search for .dll make find small. view as list. -- insert xp cd. when it shows hit exit. then right click xp cd and search. you can search it by dll name or just .dll. then make it smaller. drag and drop missing dll in proper spot on your C: search. Or, Maybe you should wait for second opinion. Delete and reinstall ie

So I should be able to find all of the missing dll's on the CD by comparing it with what I'm missing in my System folders? I'll give it a shot.

By the way, this is Windows 2000 Professional not XP.... just to clarify that.

Eh... is there any faster way? There's over 3000 DLL's I'm comparing against and I'm probably only missing a few.

I get errors when I try to debug webpages in IE, and I get failure to load DLL when I open Control Panel, I also get failures when I try to run a program known as "Stealthbot" which is written in VB

Does this narrow it down at all which possible corrupt or missing DLL's I might have?

I've been trying to find an instance where it tells me the name of a DLL, but to no avail. However Error 48 comes up quite a bit if that means anything..

My HDD on my server has been making squeaky noises lately... could this result in rubbing on the disk which could result in file corruption? I know this seems a bit farfetched but I'm running out of ideas here on what could have caused this.

found dll download site called driverskit "it was the top listing" when i typed that in. it has most dll downloads. i don't know what you could do with it if you can't net or read from cd.---did you mean your cd-rw-- cd-rom is making noise? i keep 2 - 3 laying around for replacing them for peoples old comp's. never had to buy one don't think they cost much.

Yes, a failing hard drive could be the cause of corrupted files.
