I was having problems with our PC. It wouldn't open the internet browser half the time. Spam problem or something anyway its never been formatted so I thought I would give it a try. We have nothing to save other that web address but when I did this another drive came up beside the c local disk , called I local disk. It has 3 fills documents & setting programs files and windows what did I do wrong. Should I attemp this again. or would this be normal reinstallation. Thanks

So are you stuck with a dual boot system now? Does it give you the choice of booting either one? If so, do they both boot and run normally?

I would be guessing since you didn't give much detail about how you went about this process but I'll guess that you opted to install Windows in a different directory than the one that was detected by the XP install program. If so, you'll probably want to wipe both of them away and start over. Reloading an operating system requires some up front research. I recommend that you read all the way through the process as described here. Print it out if you need to have reference while doing the deed.

There is another version here. Use whichever one you prefer. The XP install will allow you plenty of time to make decisions so don't rush ahead if you have any doubts. Read up on what to expect so you won't be surprised when the options are presented.

    Good luck.

OK, good luck with the beast.

BTW, some of those directions will not apply in your case, especially the first link since it's heavy with TMI about floppy disks, etc. Since you are able to boot the install CD, just drop down to where it says "Steps to Clean Install XP" and go from there.

    All the best.

You are supposed to press the F8 key (at the top of your keyboard about dead center) not the F* or was that a typo?
