OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6 closing verry slow

It was last November when I had trouble with slow Outllok 6. My latest problem is when I close out, it takes quite a while. I have compacted folders, but it's doing the same thing. Please offer best suggestions in getting the program to speed back up to normal....

as it stands right now, I have 13,000 messages in my in-box. I use my email for business, so they are all important. I weed out spam & delete it daily

 

With that many in your Inbox, one day you will not be able to open OE at all. You will have to go and find the Inbox.dbx and delete it completely causing you to loose all the mail in it. Then it will open like it should. You need to make Folders and not add ons to the Inbox but separate folders like there is in there now.
