After opening my Windows XP Professional box, we all pulled out that "folder' with the cd, a little pamphlet and a tiny instruction booklet. Who else is dissapointed microsoft didn't give us more written documentation? am I the only one who likes to read those Instruction Manuals when they are not on THE COMPUTER.

Anyone ever get those Dos packages? If you have ever bought one, you will know the size of the Instruction manual. Sure, XP is user friendly, and prob. doesn't need much written documentation, but even Win 98 had a pretty nice sized book! Anyone else dissapointed with this, or am I just a complete nerd :D

    Hey ningaming

:) If you are a Nerd then so am I as I feel the same. :)

Not too many days ago I bought and upgrade CD for my MS LS Links Golf. It was in a box big enough to hold a medium sized King James Bible. But all that was in the box WAS THE CD.

Darn good thing I knew from the past how to ( or attempt to ) install it. The readme on the CD was USELESS. But I guess they figure by this time we should know what to do.

:) But OTOH being me, I only read the instructions when all else fails :)

i've found it funny how microsoft and other companies are now putting all their "instruction manuels" on help files and stuff. So the real question is, if you can't open those files, how the heck are you supposed to get help?

All I wanted was a good sized book on XP. I spent my good money, doesn't that deserve something :p

 The average manual for a windows home product is around 1.80 US dollars, if you multiply this by the number of products sold, approx 17 million, and add the shipping costs (weigt) you will see why the profit margins talk and our BS walks, (right to the nearest bookstore to purchase an MS press, XP version (or other) manual, at 30+dollars US a pop.)

They win either way, most of the manuals included with a MS product are totally inadaquate for any sort of advanced help, so if your serious about the learning, thats the route to go.

It won't be long until we , the consumer, never see a CD even, it will reside on their servers, and we will use their servers to run our programs from.

Once the anti-pirating technology is sophisticated enough it will happen, but they can't keep the hackers out now, so how are they going to protect us and keep us up and running? Then will come the wrist watch computer, move over **** tracy!!

I guess your right, but I still want my manual :D

Microsoft is still a quality company (in my opinion) and I think they are slacking off. I know technology is having a rough time right now, but geez, it's a manual! People have been getting manuals since ................forever!

I hadn't even thought about no cd's. Ug. that coud be a major pain!
