    Hi,

I have third party software to monitor the current state of my notebook's battery and that's why I want to get rid of the Windows XP's battery icon appearing in the system tray once the laptop is powered by battery. I did some tweaking in "taskbar and start menu properties "| "hide inactive icons" and chose "always hide" but this did not help.

    Any suggestions?

You need to look in the startup list of items in msconfig to disable it.

Unfortunately, I cannot locate an appropriate entry in the startup list which is responsible for the battery icon.

Key the 'likely' names into Google for an explanation.

The appropriate check box in power management is unchecked. Checking it results in having the power supply icon situated in the system tray all the time, even if the laptop is powered by AC. When powered by battery, the icon appears constantly in the system tray.
My wish is to get rid of it, because I use another software which is more accurate.
