Strange situation... after installing the full SP 2 update and rebooting, suddenly now the My Documents folder appears open on the desktop.

Anybody got any ideas as to why this happens and how to fix it?:)

No open My Documents on boot
Run that file and allow it to write to your Registry. It's from Kelly Theriot's collection of great fixes and guaranteed safe.

Thanks for the fix... how do you run it in order to put it into the Registry... all I see is a text file.:)

It's a .reg file that should only require double clicking to activate a series of events that will ask you for approval to modify the Registry. If your download had a .txt extension, try changing the extension to .reg and double clicking it. Registry files such as this are text based files but they have a special format that makes them able to invoke the Registry editor.

Let's be sure you got the correct download. It should have been labeled userinit.reg. If not, try the DL again

I tried the download in IE instead of Firefox and it dl'd OK as a .reg file then...

Does it have to be run before I install the SP 2 update or after when the My Documents folder appears after reboot?:)

I'd say run it when your system demonstrates the unwanted behaviour in order for it to affect the system thereafter.
