I have Netframework 1.1 and Netframework 1.1 hotfix KB886903 and
    Netframework 2.0 and KB22770 and KB9917283 and
    Netframework 3.0

I'm not sure what Netframework is for, but I don't think I need it. In what order do I uninstall? 3.0 uninstalled first?

Yeah, it'll be listed in Control Panel Add/Remove programs. I understand that ver.3 is for Vista compliance. Uninstall in the reverse order but there will still be tracks left. I'd not worry about that though.

All of those dogs are for people who write programs from what I have heard. For the most of us, they're just more bloat.

    Hello Alicia J,

Most likely not a problem now, but you may need them in the future. Developers using the framework to build applications lock you in to having the framework on your machine to use the software. We have two database programs at work that both require require 1.1, 1.1 Hotfix and 2.0 installed or they can't be installed. If you remove the framework after install then the applications choke and will not open. So far I have only run into business software with this requirement. Just a matter of time for general purpose software to start needing it too.

I used Goback to reverse the Net Framework 3 instillation. I guess I'll leave previous versions as is. What exactly is it used for?

I would be wary. My recent experience with programs which had not installed properly led me to find out quite alot about Framework. I dont know if it will actually uninstall as it interlinks with quite a few programs, some being Microsoft's own. If I remember correctly, an attempt to uninstall will produce a warning of some of the programs which may cease to work, but this may not include all of those which would be affected.
There is a Knowledgebase article KB908077 which goes through a troubleshoot routine and manual uninstall, a process which is very "messy ", particularly if unfamiliar with the registry.
I understand that Framework 3 only adds certain extensions to Framework 2 if that previously existed.
If they are installed and trouble free, I would leave well alone.

I agree. It may be that it was installed by a program you installed. If you uninstall it and a program requires it, you'll break that program.

That said, you can uninstall it. Just beware that if a program you have suddenly quits working, it may be the cause.

I used Goback to revert the drive to a time before I installed version 3.
I suspect I'll be okay since I did not need to uninstall version 3. I'll stick to version 2.
