So i watch DVD's on my comuter, through the various media players that are available when the DVD loads up. Ive got external speakers with a small bass unit. All was working fine until a couple of weeks ago...

Now, when ever a DVD loads up, the picture is normal and fine, but the sound is messed up; its crackly and its continually stuttering, out of time with the picture. I have no idea what is wrong with it, as it jus suddenly happened!! It doesnt happen when i play music through itunes, just when i play DVDs, and every DVD i have to that matter.

Anyone got any ideas, id appreciate the help!!!

Hello nickeye and welcome to the Board,

Instead of larding up your system some more, settle on one DVD movie player.

Get rid of "the various" non WMP media players and then if you don't want to use WMP, settle on one. DVD playback is sensitive to conflicts between the various players.

    Hello Dytrog,

That's about the worst thing to do in this situation - just complicates the matter. I doubt very much that the problem is lack of MS patches.

    Regards - Charles

So how come it has only just begun to happen? The various media players only come up as the dvd loads up, and i havnt added any, theyve been there since the start...

So you suggest getting rid of some of the media players?

Have you looked in the Task Manager at what is running? All programs load .dll files when running and quite easy for one to overlay another. As you say "The various media players only come up as the dvd loads up ", which means, all of them are running in the background.
Yes, if only to be able to troubleshoot a problem like this. Start by disabling them.

    Regards - Charles
