I noticed that when I rename a users logon name in windows xp pro that users profile folders (Documents and Settings) remains unchanged as the previous username.
I also noted the previous user name at the command prompt.
Is this ever a problem or is there a better way to change the users name and keep all the users settings.

It's my understanding that you do not ever want to attempt to change the user folder name. It's so deeply integrated into the Registry that the process would take ages and be frought with problems. The best course is to create a new user and copy the other users files over into it. Then you can delete the old account once you see that the new one is working as planned.
