Good morning, I wonder if anyone can help me.

I installed a wifi connection onto my laptop, and when altering the settings, inadvertently clicked on the setting to disable the user name used to log into the laptop. The laptop then restarted, and I am now locked out of Windows.

I have the boot up password, which it accepts, but when it gets to the Control Alt Del command, it will not accept my username or password.

Is there any way of getting into Windows to restore the user name? I am unable to access it via the administrator username, as the laptop was a company one and the firm went into liquidation last year. If I could restore the username, hopefully it would allow me to access the laptop once more.

Any hints, tips or suggestions would be gratefully received, as I am at my wits' end trying to figure it out!

    Thanking you in advance.

    Lou

If you have installed Service Pack 2 it will be much harder to do than if you did not.

Unfortunately I don't know this, as the laptop was maintained by the IT department at the firm I worked for.
