    Hi,

I encrypted a file, backed it up, wiped my computer, reinstalled the OS and now I can't open the file.

I've read several posts on the subject but have what I think is a new wrinkle which I cling to with some hope:

Tho' I did not save a copy of the certificate or export it before the wipe/restore, I do remember the password (private key?) and can export/import the certificate attached to the restored file now.

Is it possible to use that certificate to open the file? If so, how? If not,

You didn't save a copy of the certificate or export it before the wipe/restore.

    This means you are SOL.

The password will not let you get your key back. Even with the same password, the key will be different.
