xp pc freezes at boot, why

    my windows xp pc freezes up during boot up at the dos screen.. Can only get into BIOS once before pc warms up and freezes.

    Can you boot up in safe mode?
    Ignore that line. Try removing your keyboard then boot up, it does sound like a hard ware problem so you will need to go through this systematically.

    Check all fans for operation and check for restricted air flow from dust/lint buildup. Look for the CPU fan - the power supply fan - and the case fan. There may even be others so give it a good look see.
