O'Charleys Originals - virus, trojan?

I'm confused this morning ! Woke my computer up and logged on to web and my home page loaded . Immediately after that a window comes up with the name mentioned in title line and says it can't find my home page ! It wouldn't let me close out the home page already loaded and running in the background . I control , alt, delete and closed IE7 and it went away . I'm running a scan right now and haven't found anything . I couldn't find anything online or on this site with such a name . And , there are no such restaurants with that name in my area and I haven't been to any of their websites . Thanks for input ! Jim

So this was a secondary IE7 pop up that appeared after your homepage loaded? Or was this in place of your homepage and you got the message that your homepage could not be found?

What is your original homepage?

 

Thanks Temerc , Yes , it was a secondary popup that came up . My home page , which is yahoo, was fully loaded and looked normal . This window came up immediately afterwards and was about 3-4 inches high by 7 inches wide and wouldn't let me do anything . AVG found nothing .

 

That sounds like an ad served by YaHoo! to me. Do you have a pop up blocker installed? Also there is one in IE7 of course.

Send me the link to your homepage I'm curious if I get a pop up at all. Sometimes they make changes like that and they won't tell you about it.

Ok, well I'm not seeing anything there other than some settings in IE7 which won't affect pop ups. Nit-picks.

I'm beginning to think that YaHoo! may be employing some underhanded ad distro, via 'pop unders' or 'sliders' which most of the free pop up stoppers won't prevent. Does it happen all the time?


Open Hijackthis, select the [Do a system scan only] button and look over the following entries I have listed, check the boxes [] next to them and press the [Fix Checked] button. When you are doing this, make sure you have No IE windows, nor any other browsers open, including this one. Reboot if I have specified below, and post a fresh HijackThis log.
