    Hey to all!

    OK, 2 issues.

First, I can't remove 1 file in an old "backup" folder. I get "Cannot delete Flash9.ocx: Access is denied ".

I've even used the "Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller" program from Adobe's website.

So, how do I get rid of this file????

Second issue: Computer has ALWAYS been sluggish since new (slow response times to open files, hard drive keeps being accessed, etc.). I have no idea on how to fix this.

Specs: Gateway, Intel VIIV (Pentium D 940, dual core, 3.20 GHz), 2Gig RAM, XP Media Center (SP2), 500 Gig SATA 2 HD, 2 Gig Memory

(yes, all this and sometimes it runs slower than my old WIN 98 machine...)

I'm not (yet) hooked up to use the all the TV/media stuff that it came with.

    Ideas????

    Hello deck,

Try Safe Mode first. Boot up hitting the F8 key and delete, than reboot normally.

If the file still won't delete - Use Move On Boot, download from here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html to delete it. It will add a new item to your right click Context Menu, target that file with Move on Boot, and then reboot.

Use the links in this thread to lookup your startups and what's running in the Task Manager:
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=39425

After you've done that, let us know if any improvement.

    Regards - Charles

    Hi deck,
I'll try my hand at the first issue since I just googled it. I found two solutions right off the bat. They seemed to work for users with your exact problem.

    Solution number one:
Move the file, then delete it. The person who suggested this moved it to the My Documents folder.

    Solution two:
    >Rename the flash9.ocx to flash9.ocx.txt.
    >It will give you an error message. Click ignore.
    >right-click this file and go to properties>security>advanced,
    >select and remove any/all Type of permission that has Deny listed.
    >Close properties.
    >Now delete the flash9.ocx.txt.

I didn't check out googles other hits for this issue since the first one had the two I have included in this post. You may wish to do so. If so here ya' go:

    Hi again!

Well, now I feel kinda stupid...

I tried the "move and delete "... and it worked! :)

I did have to move the file folders to delete them also.

    THANK YOU, goddez1 !

Now, on to tackle the slowness problem per charlesvar. I'll report back shortly...

    Hi again deck,
Yahoo. Glad the file delete was so easy. Hope the computer cleanup goes just as smoothly. Thanks for the update and your welcome.
