I have acquired an Acer Computer, mfg. date 9/`96. Iwant to salvage what parts I can, it was supposedly hit by lightning.
My question is are the parts, like the 30GB quantum hard drive, modem etc.,proprietary? I remember Packard Bell!! I won`t waste my time checking them out if they`re not generic. Thanks as usual.

I hate Senility! Apply my query to a Hewlitt Packard computer, not an Acer.
I haven`t found a mfgr. date on it but it says on the front it`s designed for M.S. Me, so it`s not real antique.

Some parts are proprietary, mainly things like the power supply and Main Board, the HDD and memory and any plug in cards should be usable in other computers.
