I have seen some bad software but never as bad as WMP7.01. They call it 7.1 but it is not...it is 7.01.

    No sound in midis.
Visualizations do not display at all.

And those are only two of the numerous problems.

Is anyone having any success with this player? I have never seen anything as bad as this player.

    Thanks if any info.

No Visualization for MIDI Files (Q261862)

If you are having other problems, tell us what they are. They may be the result of conflicts with other players you might have installed. If you post back, please include which operating system you are using, other media players, and which version of Internet Explorer or any other browser.

BTW - to answer your question. Although I currently use WMP 8, I've never experienced any real problems with previous versions.

There is no sound in midis. There is sound for everything else.

There are no visualizations displayed for anything at all.

    Windows98SE
    Netscape4.79

    Music Match Jukebox...no problems
    Real Player...do not use.
    Liquid Audio Player...do not use.

MS calls the dl WMP7.1 but it is not...it is only 7.01....I never heard of WMP8

No sound in midis in 6.4 either. There is an x on the volume icon on the front of the 6.4 but no way to remove it.

    Thanks...

I don't know. My guess is that some other program has changed the Content Type values for the .mid or .midi files. Whether the program is used or not.

Unable to Play MIDI Files after Uninstalling Music Programs (Q255543)

Re: version 7.1 vs 7.01 it's not unusual for MS to have that sort of discrepancy in version numbering. As for WMP 8, it's only for Windows XP.

Sorry. That's all I've got for you.
