I've read through several posts here regarding DiskCleanup.

My specific question is this ... DiskCleanup shows over 3GB of Temporary Files.

I regularly run it and use it to delete my Temporary Internet Files ... but have never paid attention to the Temporary Files.

I ran a search on *.tmp and almost all of the files reside in the WINDOWS/System32 directory

Are temp files something that if I start removing them, I could cause some major problems ... or is it safe to start removing them ?

The largest one is SET65.tmp - 2.4GB

    thanks

It's a bit weird that they're hitting the sys32 folder but they are generally safe to delete.

    Try http://www.ccleaner.com/

CCleaner deletes Temp files in Windows, IE, Firefox, Opera, and 3rd party (like the huge leftover Google Earth temp files.) It has many options, like not to delete Temp files less than 48 hours old, cookie storage for signing on to forums, etc. It has a support forum too.
