Did you implement policys? Did you check the target on the "my documents" folder properties?
Windows XP or 2000? Domain ?

    not sure

What do you mean "implemnt policies" it is a group policy under their OU and it is forced down to xp boxes via 2003 server. I check the mydocuments folder and not only does it still show rediredt (the little blue arrows) but the target points to the server and these two do not have the "restore to default location" option under properties as most do. It just does not seem to be able to change it back, i have done "gpupdate /force" i know other policies are pushed down why not this one.

    Mike-

It appears that you are still having problems. You might want to check on the following:

Check the path that you have set for the folder redirection. This shared resource will need to be accessible from the clients. Also, check that the appropriate permissions are set on the folder and its child objects.

Next, you can run the command GPUdate.exe /Target:User. This will update only the targeted policy - User

As a last result and attempting to eliminate disarray (confusion Mike), try to redirect the folder manually.

To do this, turn off the policy setting for folder redirection. Then logon to the workstation as the intended user. Then right click on the 'My Documents' folder and choose 'Properties'. Click the 'Move' button. In the 'Select Destination' window, browse to the shared folder on the network folder.

If this works, then its safe to assume that the permissions are valid for the intended users folder. As for attempting this with group policy...check your settings again.

    ???

    Thanks for your reply Kevin,

I hope all is well with you,'

As stated in my post the restore to default location is not on these two pc's and all of the policy changes to redirect the folder by using Group Policy are not functioning. If you have any other thoughts i look forward to hearing them,

All is quite well here while looking out my office window to the bright and sunny California. Thanks for asking.

If the workstation is properly removed from the GP, then the properties of the 'My Documents' folder will display the button to 'Restore Default' on the tab labeled 'Target'. This button will restore the default setting for 'My Documents' to c:\documents and settings\%username%\my documents.

If this still fails... move the user to an un-edited policy (i.e. default policy). Make certain that the default policy adheres to the user upon logon.

Have you tried eliminating your policies altogether?
