    Hi, visee.

I'm not certain what you are asking.

I am guessing someone has assigned the "Read-only" attribute to filename.txt and you wish to remove the Read-only attribute from the file.

Perhaps you can remove the Read-only attribute from the filename.txt file as follows.

    1. Open Windows Explorer.
    2. Browse to the folder that contains the filename.txt file.
    3. Right-click on the filename.txt file.
    4. Select "Properties ".
    5. Uncheck the "Read-only" attribute near the bottom of the Properties window for the filename.txt file.
    6. Click the "Apply" button.
    7. Click the "OK" button.

If you still cannot rename or delete filename.txt, then perhaps someone on the network currently has the file open which would prevent you from modifying or deleting the file.

Perhaps you can open filename.txt in Notepad and then select File > "Save As... ". Type a different filename in the "File name:" field and click the "Save" button. Then perhaps you can edit your newly saved file as you wish. However, this will not affect the original filename.txt file.

    hi visee!

I notice you list your experience level as beginner. Perhaps you should tell us where this undeletable file is located since you may be trying to delete some important system file.

There are several methods that can be used to delete troublesome files but I don't want to help you render your system corrupt by deleting something it needs. Post back the exact full name and location of that file and let's see if it's one that you should be allowed to work with.
