    Hi all,

I have XP Pro and a DSL connection.
I've noticed that after 2 days of uptime, my system suddenly develops a problem where I can't load any webpage in any browser.
I can still use MSN and ICQ and things like that, however loading web pages results in a DNS error that only a reboot will fix.

Has anyone else seen this problem before?

I have no clue as to why it's happening.

    Thanks

Local (on your PC) DNS cache issue.

Do start~run~cmd and put in ipconfig /flushdns and press ENTER and you should be good to go.

Ok, I will try that command, thanks.
I will have to wait until I reach 2.5 days of uptime however, so I won't know if it works for a few more days.

What I'd really like is to find out why it's doing that in the first place.

Are the DNS servers defined on your PC or are they dynamically assigned by your ISP ?

If they're dynamic it may be worth statically assigning them (remains independent of the dynamic assignment of IP address)

I'm sure that others will give you DNS servers near to you, the only ones I know are in the UK which will be a fair few hops from yourself and therefore unneccessarily slow
