My wife's pc has an ECS ELITEGROUP L7VMM2 motherboard with build in video, and the video has crapped out. I cannot find this MOBO anywhere and I was wondering if there is a substitute? I think is is a Socket A? So I would need a socket A mobo with video.

Cheaper, faster & probably better to just buy a < $70.00 graphics card, either a pci or agp (agp would be better on this board). Install the card, boot to bios and disable the onboard video & let windows detect the new hardware, then load the video drivers.

Whenever I need a basic AGP card for 2D, I usually end up paying ~$35.

You will be hard pressed to find any Socket A board today. Good luck!

If you know what the processor is, I may be able to help you out. Actually, I'd like to know both the processor and type of memory before responding but I have a few new socket A boards squirreled away.

    ;)

OK, just checked out your board - there were 3 revisions, all of which used PC2100 memory, so I'll say that I know where you can find a brand spanking new micro ATX board with on-board sound and video (Biostar M7VIG4) that is compatable with your existing CPU, memory and hardware.

For now I will try to find a video card and make sure that it is in fact the video that is bad. If not I will be looking for a MB.

www.ewiz.com has some Socket As. I've used this dealer and I like them alot.

I have two boards: a Foxconn with an SIS chipset and a nice Epox 8RD3A+ with Nforce Ultra400 chipset.

I can sell them to you but you'd be getting them as is - i.e. no warranty.

They have 13 Socket A boards listed at ewiz. Alot of them look like micro-ATXs. Just select Motherboards-AMD on the left and then pick Socket A in the Socket dropdown box. :)

Not a good situation, my friend - now she's going to go into the aggressive "Cuddle Thy Hubbie " mode and you won't be able to get a moments time to yourself. I've seen it happen before but you could be in for a double helping - Good Luck!
