Pardon what may appear to be a "dumb" question but....in Win XP, is there something called "Program Manager" if so where is it?

Do you mean the old progman.exe included with xp only as one of those perks for older program compatbility. This would be started from the run line and is located in the system32 folder. However it doesn't work [has been disabled] if xp has been updated to sp2. What are you trying to do? Perhaps there is another way to it.

Many people refer to "Task Manager" alias Taskman as the program manager because that is what it does, loosely described. This would be cntrl/alt/del to call up or taskmgr in the runline. I'm reasonably sure you know this but I had to point it out anyway.

Here's why I brought his up. I installed a reminder program that allows you to "attach" a post-it note type reminder to any window or program. When you elect to "attach" the reminder to a window or program the option that's ALWAYS there is "Program Manager" (first one in the list), then it lists any windows title or programs you have open.

I'm running Win XP SP2. My initial thougths went to the old Win 3.1 when I know they had a Program Manager.

Sorry, I personally don't know. Can't even look for ya' without the name of the application. Makes sense that it would be the older "program manager" progman.exe, particularly if this is an older application. But as I said xp with sp2 has kicked progman.exe to the curb. XPsp1 may still have retained the api but I can not confirm this as I also have sp2. Hope the application works for you otherwise. Maybe, as members drop in, they will have a better software suggestion that will work for you and will share the name or link. I'm fairly empty handed on this one.....

I believe that this refers to a hidden window that's named Program Manager. To verify this, you'd have to run a program such as Karen Kenworthy's WindowWatcher (available for free here: http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptwinwatch.asp )

FWIW - this even shows up in Vista (where I tried it)!
