I recently installed XP Home on a new Hard Drive
Then installed Norton System works 2007
After nearly a month of having difficulities such as product registration, no use of system restore, unable to view news videos such as yahoo and cnn, and the inablility to use "My Network PLaces" I contacted Norton and was sent a removal tool. This seems to have solved several of my problems most notably system restore and My Network Places but not all including the inability to view news videos.
I have also received among others the following messages...
    Error 0xc0000143
    Error 0xc01500002

Could anyone offer some insight as to understanding and solving these error messages

Hi, younga1. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

I Googled Error 0xc0000143 and came up with several results, indicating the STOP 0xc0000143 error has many different possible causes.

I searched Microsoft's Knowledge Base for Error 0xc0000143 and found 5 different articles, none of which appear to apply to Windows XP. My Knowledge Base search for Error 0xc01500002 came up empty.

I Googled Error 0xc01500002 and came up with a few results.

I have no idea how to direct you to proceed with any of those search results.

Perhaps we can help you better if we have more details about your STOP errors. Please carefully follow the instructions in this link for your "Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD) errors (also known as STOP errors). Then paste the DebugWiz-generated BSOD dump analysis reports for some of your recent BSODs here in this thread. Then we can see if we recognize a pattern and perhaps we can offer helpful suggestions.

Since you indicated that this is a recent installation on a new HD, I think if I were in your spot I'd just wipe the old installation and put it back anew.

It seems possible that Norton System Works has pulled some shared files while it was being uninstalled and that left other applications lacking in support. It's hard to say what those files may have been.

Thanks for undertaking some assistance with this situation. I am gratified to know that there are others more knowledgeable who willing to offer there experience and insight. I tried to follow your instructions and those provided by Microsoft. I can verify that I have an event log but I am not able to display or copy it. Nor can I find Dr. Watson, I searched under the c drive Documents and settings but to no avail.

:) That seems to be the reason I had to buy a new hard drive! I am not sure how to reinstall XP. the last time I tried I ended up with a lot of used space that would not allow me to view the files. I assume that since I didn't the exiasting files that is the reason. In other words, I didn't delete anything before I installed XP over the existing files. My thinking was that it would wipe all the previous ones. Boy was I wrong! I ended up with 30 plus gigs of unusable hard drive space that would not allow me to access it. Which out of 40 gigs didn't leave enogh to store the documents I wanted to re-install.
If you could provide step by step instructions on such a project I would be most appreciative. Thanks for your assistance

There are several good sites that offer guidance for a clean install of XP.

    Here's one.

You can find others by Googling. It often depends on what type of install CD you have, whether it's an OEM or MS full version. Ideally you will have a MS full version with SP2 included. Anyway, search Google accordingly if the site I linked isn't just right for your situation.
