I have Reduplicating icons on my XP Home desktop and don't know why. I ran Norton's and it shows no virus.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing ? This started 2 days ago.

that was an email I received from a friend and don't know what to do to stop this from happening.
They removed the duplicated icons and they came back. any suggestions ?

    Hi Sultan,

Did you see and try anything found in this archived post?

    http://windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=27382&highlight=duplicated+icons

Should have made a correction or pointed that if choosing to use the manual regedit suggested in this past post:

    Change CommonDesktop from:
    %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Desktop
    To:
    CommonDesktop
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

That the drive letter C:\should be changed to reflect your particular partition or drive letter, (this may not be C:\ )
