Windows Me will not start

When I try to start my old computer it comes up with a message (translated from norwegian): Failure: OD :0167 : BFF6C079. I try Enter or Ctrl Alt Del, but nothing happens. Can somebody help??

 

I am sure I have seen that message before (Failure OD), but it wasn't yesterday.

It will be important to note exactly when it occurs. Does Windows start to load? If you can see lines above the message, what is stated on the last line or two (sometimes it will say "Loading such and such...Failure... ").

If you can boot to a floppy disk, run the memory diagnostics in my signature.

You may need to check the basics. Has the case been cleaned out? Check for dust blocking the air intakes and in the fins of the heatsink over the CPU Edit: do not unclip the heatsink from over the processor.

Startup with the cover off and check all the fans are spinning freely (including the power supply fan).

The other basic hardware check is to pull out and reseat all the connections inside the case.

Let us know more information. The error will be probaly be from the BIOS of the computer.

how long has this pc been sitting ? If you can open your case,Please check
all cables and then check your bios battery. If that is not the problem,then
it is a hard drive problem. Do you have the Win/Me setup disk ?
You could try a fresh install,But that might not work IF the hard drive is BAD..
