My computer auto-disconnects me for the internet. The internet is on but no pages will open, so I have to log out and log in or restart to get back online. It does this normally after 1-3 hours, even if i am playing a flash game, watching videos, downloading. I am connecting through a D-link router, but never had these problems on old windows Me computer, Running Xp Now with Norton. How do i disable this?

The next time it happens, instead of logging out power cycle the router. That is, pull the power plug out of the back of the router and plug it back in. Wait a little while for the computer to reestablish the connection and see if internet access is back.

If that works, the problem is likely with the router. If it doesn't work, wait for another disconnection and see if power cycling the modem gets the connection back.

Some household appliances can mess with wireless signals...microwaves and cordless phones come to mind. Do you have anything like that near the router or the computer?

The problem has nothing to do with the router I am afraid. My brother connects his computer from the same computer and when my connection is no longer active, his still is. Although it says on the router I am still connected. It has appeared to broken connection when I am in an online game. The game still goes on and I can still chat away to other players, but when i try and load a web page it doesn't allow me. And when i break connection with the game, I cannot reconnect. It may have something to do with the internet settings or norton internet security settings, but I have no idea what to do there.
