    I'm lost, spent 5 hours trying to fix my laptop but to no avail...

    I searched the net and there was an instruction to add a device in config.sys though there was no detailed instruction on how to do it...

    Anyone tried this before?

    Thanks

    Which Operating System are you using and what do you need to add? Win2k and XO don't use the config.sys file...

    If you're uisng Win98 you can click on Start->Run and type SYSEDIT edit the file.

    hi steve,

    OS is win 98SE. What happened was i reformatted it and then I can boot thru drive A but for some reason it doesn't want to recognize the CD drive where my windows disk was located. so I searched the net of things that I can do. One article suggested that I add va16CLI.sys on the config.sys, problem is, i don't know how to do that :confused:

    Where did you get the boot diskett from?

    Might try one from www.bootdisk.com

    Is the file va16CLI.sys on your floppy disk? If not, you're sol... If it is:

    Boot off the floppy. At the A:\> prompt type:

    Edit A:\Config.sys

    You "probabably need to add the line:

    Device = va16CLI.sys

    Then do File save and reboot.
