Hi. I'm trying to download something I found online. The computer says "save to desktop "
But I'm new at this. I went to the help section of my windows xp but they didn't have any info on "saving to desktop" while I'm still online

Can anyone explain how to do this? I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the board!

Well, if memory serves me correctly there should be a desktop button in the save as window that you can click on. When you click the link to download the file a save as window will open. Look at the left side of the save as window and you should see some icons there. One of them should be a desktop icon. Click on it and then click the save button. When the download is finished, you'll find the file on your desktop.

That said, you can save the file wherever you want to. It's just that if you save it on the desktop it's easier to find if you are indeed new to this. If it's something you install, once it's installed you can delete the file you downloaded. If you want to save it, you can move it to a different location. There's no need to let it sit on your desktop.
