Is the order of removal of old driver components significant?

I compare 3 different sources and find that they are even opposite:

    A. From the readme file of driver cleaner:
    B. From amd.ati official site:
    C. From hardforum.com:

    I'd go with "B. "

Using "Add or Remove Programs ", uninstall the Control Panel first and then uninstall the driver. The driver actually works without a Control Panel. In such a case it would default to XP's simple display control panel.

But in the long run, the order may not matter. I'm just telling you what I do and it works just fine.

    ati old driver removal sequence

    Here is what I think.

The unstaller utility as its name implies, is used to uninstall all the other ati driver components (although it does not always succeed), so we should run this utility first. The order of removal of the remaining components is not significant. By the way, in early versions the catalyst control center was named control panel.

If I recall correctly, I don't even bother uninstalling the ATI Uninstall Utility. I remove the Control Panel and then the driver and that's it. It seems that uninstalling the driver gets rid of the Uninstall Utility.

It would seem counterintuitive to delete the Uninstall Utility before you Uninstall.
