:D OK Guys I really think I did it this time. I turned on start from CD. Then I told it to do the long reformat and followed instructions. When XP Home started up I followed Rocksters advice and did the 1,2,3 instructions. So far all is well and I'm downloading Norton's as I type. Want to get that up and running right off the bat before I upgrade the service packs.

Once again (and hopefully the last time) for all your help. Love ya all.

PS Don't know what happened about the Fat (not really sure I care at this point) but everything looks as it should at this point.

If you used the Recovery Disk, the reserved FAT section was left alone. You were formatting only the second partition that would contain the OS installation.

Bill, you are absolutely right. And that's basically what I wanted. Anyway I've checked everything over, redownloaded my Norton's, updated my Microsoft products and reinstalled some programs and everything appears to be working real well. I'm hoping it stays that way I really don't want another day like yesterday.

Once again thank you for all your help. You guys on this board are the best and have sure helped a lot of people over the years.
