Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but I've always had great help from WindowsBBS, so here goes.

I want to make a CD label that's basically just a black circle, about 90mm in diameter, with a thickness of about 4mm.

I have Photoshop CS, so I thought I'd start with a plain white image 120mm square, and then position a circle within it. My Canon Label-print software should then ignore the square and print out a CD with a heavy dark circle about 15mm in from the CD's edge.

But creating the circle and centering it is the bit that I can't figure out.

Advice would be appreciated  Hope my description makes sense.

I don't have Photoshop but you can look at my attached pic and see if it's what you're after. If so, you can do it quite easily with MS Paint. Just open Paint, click image>attributes. Then where it says height and width, type in the size you want. Make both of them the same so you end up with a square to start from. The one I made is 480X480 pixels. Then, from the tools on the left select the ellipse tool. Then, place your cursor as close to one corner as you can get it, click the mouse button and drag it until you have a circle that fills the square. If you try it, you'll see what I mean. Then it's just a matter of coloring the circle.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you want. If so, you'll have to let us know.

I think he means an unfilled circle, aka a 10 pixel black ring w/ white middle.

In that case, just make a second circle inside the first. Color the part you want and it's done. Something like this? I colored the outside so you could see it in your browser window.

Thanks for your help guys. Shucks, there's no doubt about a picture being worth a thousand words! I thought long and hard about my description but obviously still didn't get it right.

I think it's probably best if I hand-make a disc, using a white printable CDR, draw a circle on it with a felt pen, then upload it to Photobucket so you can see what I mean.

Actually, ideally, I'd like to be able to make TWO circles, so I'll draw in the smaller, inner one as well.

    ........Later

Ok, I've photod the CD. Here it is on Photobucket.

They're kinda scruffy looking circles, but I hope you get the idea!
    Cheers.
