    Good day,

I am new, and not an anglophone, so excuse me in advance for any spelling, punctuation or/and grammer mistakes.

My problem is I think I have two windows XP running on my machine, when I start I get a prompt to choose which operating system to use. I would like to remove the one that I do not use, how do I do that ?

    Thank you

Copy the contents of your boot.ini file and return the results back to the forum. We can advise how to edit the file.

Right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery -- Settings.

Click the Edit button at the top.
Use your mouse to make a copy of the contents of that editing window.

Return to the Forum and Paste the results in a new reply.

    Two Operating Systems

This often happens on operating system upgrades.
For example Windows 2000 > upgrade to Windows XP.
Just start the computer and let it proceed by itself.
You may have to select the user.
Let the computer start by itself.

Repeat the process and under the editor, remove the second line:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS.0= "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

    Save the change.
