I'm having trouble connecting my computer to my tv for display. It's a GeForce 2 videocard. I have it set up right now as S video out from the card to a S-video to base-band connector and then a wire from that into my VCR. It connects into the line one jack in the back. I tried using the Line in 2 jack inthe front too and that still didn't work. Here's basically what happens...

I enter the dispay properties>settings>advanced. On the device selection tab I click on the bullet next to TV. I tried both letting windows XP select the appropriate output and sorcing it to use S-video. Neither of these work and both get the same results when I hit apply. My monitor goes off, the TV flickers once and then the monitor comes back on and nothing happened... I don't know what else I can do. I was just wondering if anyone knows what I'm missing???

    thanks,

    JON

Start by using Svideo out on your video Card to S Video in on your TV. I'm not familiar with a base band connector but have had good luck with both SVideo and analog connections to TVs or VCRs. you may want to back off your resolution and screen size too.

Okay. This is a really old TV and VCR. the tv only has coax input. the VCR can take the CRA inputs only. The hardware setup works fine wtih my laptop, sticking it into the S video jack on that. The options are a little different for my desktop but it's still basically the same but it's just not displaying my video on the TV. I have the resolution set to 640x 480 just to be safe... because I know the TV can handle that... but that's not changing anything at all.

Have you tried simply plugging in a cable that is S-video on one side and RCA on the other? I have one of these right here in front of me - it's only 3 inches long, but it's a real product.

If your video has a scart socket you can buy a lead that runs from your s-video and 2 phono (For sound) to your scart, then just switch your video to auxillary. This is how I do it with my Geforce 2 MX, and I just bought a small stereo to phono converter for the sound.

    Hope this helps
