The program won't load now and displays what I assume is an error code, "0x800106ba."
    Thanks for your help.

Best Wishes for a Healthy and Happy New Year to Everyone!

    Windows Defender

Hi Timmins, I've just spent some time over the last two days with WD doing the same thing on 4 home PCs running XP Home. What I had to do was remove WD from PCs. by >Contol Panel> Add or Remove. The version I had was 1354 (I think) and the latest is 1593. You go to Windows Update and ask for WD and download the latest as the earlier version expired 31/12/06. Once its installed it will do an auto update then scan your PC. Neil.

    Windows Defender Error.

    retiredlearner and armestier,

Thank you for your replies. The key was the expiration of the Beta version on Dec.31,06; I had completely forgotten about that...
I had version #1592 and as you sugested ,uninstalled it. End of problem.
Wasn't impressed with W/D, so will not install the new version. I thought the old MSAS program was better.

    Regards, Timmins.

I was going to post a warning about that and forgot to.

    Nice catch, timmins.
