My experience with using switches to change from one computer to another on one terminal was:

    1. The non-electronic A/B switch: cheap, the lines are relatively thin but the resolution was much reduced.

    2. The eletronic A/B switch: rather expensive, good resolution but the connection wires are EXTREMELY THICK AND VERY UNSIGHTLY.

I have not used them since the last few years so I don't know if there has been any improvement. Can somebody give me some info? :)

    Hi Greeneye,
I use a Belkin two port switch for two computers, one monitor, one keyboard, and one PS2 mouse. It works very well, switching with a keyboard sequence.
The wires aren't exceptionally thick, in fact the monitor connection is thinner than some I've seen.
The only drawback could be if you want to use a USB mouse, which won't be usable.

    Roger:)

You can use a usb mouse & keyboard w/ a ps2 type switch IF use usb>ps2 adaptera. They come w/ some mice too.

Yes, my mistake Tony. I forgot that my mouse is wireless, so I have to have the receiver in a USB port. I keep an old PS2 mouse plugged into the second machine.

    re: switches

I also used a Belkin with 4 ports. When I said the connection wires are thick I was thinking in comparison to a non-electronic A/B switch:

    1. The Belkin wires I bought are thick because they have a protecting layers against data lost.

    2. The Belkin wires actually are a triple wire( video, mouse, keyboard ), as compared to a non-electronic A/B switches which have only a connection to a video output.

Also we should also consider the length of the connection.
